FORMAT 20 – Anniversary edition: COURAGE Magazine of the HfG Schwäbisch Gmünd

I’m very proud that I was a part of the FORMAT magazine since my third semester and part of the chief editorship since the fourth semester. It’s great to work in a team that consists of students of all disciplines, years and nationalities. Everyone who participates in the FORMAT magazine does so on their own initiative and is motivated to create something special.

Since the project is led by students, there’s a lot of responsibility, but also more freedom than with any other project. The topic of the 20th issue was MUT (eng. courage). Textual content, photography, illustration, layout and typography are completely up to the editorial team and adapt to the main topic.
Being part of the chief editorship presented two fellow students and me with a lot of unusual tasks and it took a lot of courage from us to push things according to our team's ideas, but everything went well!
And isn't it courage (
) what the whole thing is about anyway?

Studying design in Gmuend: A Website for applicants -in Collaboration with the HfG
Last semester, a fellow student, Lisa Kern and I had the opportunity to conceptualize and layout a few small websites about the HfG, its courses and application information.
We ran interviews and surveys to compile the optimal content. Design and structure was evaluated in several user tests.
The progress was regularly discussed and further developed with the academic staff and responsible professors, which was very exciting.
